Post-polio syndrome involves the tissues which polio virus is attracted to: nerves, more specifically the motor nerves. antibody formation is thought to be the cause, and children may experience similar as a result (possibly crossing the placenta). Dandy-walker formations, and other types of "mal"formations have not been associated with polio. Dandy-walker is a result of inadequate migration of nerve/neuron cell progenitors during development--and no one has found polio antibodies to cause this abnormality specifically.
