They don't have massage action, but the Infrared heating pads are said to penetrate deeper into the tissue. I believe it from my experience with both kinds.
I can feel a more lasting effect when I use my infrared heat pad vs the regular type pad.
Plus the infrared helps rid the toxins from the body at the cellular level.
