Default The shower

It has been delightful to see evidence that my Moi is feeling better. One of the best signs is his laughter.

Yesterday we were chuckling about his mom who had called that morning with "words of wisdom" . She had called to tell me that she had concluded that the souurce of Moi's swallowing problems was his nose. "His nose has too much water in it". (That was the best she could think how to translate her conclusion into English) She advised that we should see a nose doctor about it.

After lunch, Moi decided to wash up. I have heretofore been helping him, but he declared himself capable. I made sure he got in safely, trying to keep him untangled from all the lines and tubes. I warned him to only take a bath - "NO SHOWER", because of it wetting his incisions.

I decided to take out the laptop and do some work also type out a few thoughts. I could hear him in the bathroom; getting in; turning on the faucet, rinsing.

The more he was on his own, the more I felt safe to let him be in there without peeking in on him while I became more and more engrossed on my own work.

I should have known that the naughty boy in him would be irresistable because a few minutes later, I heard him yell, "Honey! The shower is really hot and there is no way to make it cooler!!"

I looked up and over, and there he was, squatting in the tub with a "shower rod" in his hand behind him and a spray of hot water aimed between his legs.

I stood up and ran/flew/yelled to him, "HONEY, NO!!! THAT'S THE BEDPAN RINSER!!!!"

I quickly turned off the apparatus and the two of us burst into side splitting laughter. Neither of us could get complete sentences...Moi sat in the tub blushing, laughing...tears rolled down my face.... How was he to know? It looked like a shower rod, and with his limited mobility, he couldn't look up to see a shower head above.

We finally stopped laughing and as I extended one of my arm out to hold him while the other holding my stomach, I busted out laughing again...to which he started to laugh also but this time, with a baffled expression on his face.

"What??" he asked .

"Honey..." I kept on chuckling as I went on to wipe his face, "Your mother is right...there's water coming out of your nose...."
