Well, it is the good fats in peanut butter that confer its beneficial properties for preventing heart attacks.

For dieters who want protein only, and don't care about the health benefits of real peanut butter, I suppose it is okay.
But I wouldn't use it myself.

People with diabetes need good fats in the diet. They stabilize the blood sugar and provide slower stomach emptying as well.
There are peanut butters with no added sugar. Those are the ones I advocate. (not ones like JIF.)
