Fast like for other tests, and just give a blood sample.
Elevations show insulin resistance issues. Meaning your body needs more and more insulin to do its job. In the early stages this causes low blood sugar readings, and as it progresses, the system fails and diabetes results. It shows the tendency to
have diabetes later (pre-diabetes) and when very very high indicates a tumor on the pancreas (but this is not common for most people)
