Does your neuro have an answering service? If it's really really bad you could call the answering service and request that your neuro call you back, then you could describe what's happening and he could tell you if you need the ER or if you can wait to see him...plus it gives him a heads up if you can get an appointment on monday.
As for your husband suggesting you need more meds, there's only so much medication you can take at one time before your body says "STOP GIVING ME MEDS!!" and then totally craps out. If it were me, I'd be calling the neuro's answering service, no matter what time of night it was.
