It is good you will know to recognize symptoms of B12 deficiency EARLY should they occur. And she should know to suspect this possibility as she gets older and her medical care will be in her own hands. It could be something that isn't a problem now, but could be in her future.

I think it is totally fair game to ask to have her tested, given your own deficiency. I asked to have my daughter tested .
