I think you need to consult with s/he, and find out what the odds are for what.
Now, my humble Opinion....
Yes, you may open the door for more RSD, but, if the anesthesiologist, is aware of RSD, S/He, can take some steps to avoid spread.
Do you have any history of Cancer?
I'd be Afraid of that!
RSD can change your comfort in life.
Cancer, can END your life!
Don't mess around.
Get done what needs to be done, and simply try to keep a strong upper lip, easier said that done, I know...
Talk to your doctors, ALL of them including who's treating your RSD, the Surgeon, and, the Anesthesiologist!
Get your self into a comfort zone.
