Question Question about cached Google pages....?

I always thought that using the cached feature on Google entries
was safer than clicking on the site offered instead.

Am I wrong in this?

Can someone who understands Google explain if the holder of the website can "see" people looking at cached entries? That is track your IP number etc? I tend to use "cached" entries now, since I was attacked about a year ago by some other rogue security program, when I clicked on a Google entry about drug information.

We got hit by GreenAV this morning at about 1am. All I did was log onto Firefox and bingo it started to download. We managed to block it (while being a bit hysterical) with Avast. But I wonder if it followed one of us from another website, just when we closed down the internet a few hours before?
