Welcome aboard. I've had seizures since shortly after I came home from Desert Storm in Iraq. 7 to 9 months after I was honorably discharged from the Marines the seizures started up. Now I've been having them for around 16 and a half years.
The white spots on your brain is scar tissue on the brain. That's what I have on the right and left temporal lobe. So the right lobe was removed. Then the seizures were reduced a great amount, but kept on having them.
I must say, stay away from the drugs. Also right now stay away from the pot. They don't call it dope if it was making people smarter.
On your seizure calendar, what others have told you is pretty much how you do it. Just one other thing. If you live with a family or friend, see if they can time your seizures for 2 reasons. #1, the last thing you want is to get hit with status epilepticus. #2 when I put the amount of time next to each seizure, my epileptologist / med school professor at USC. He said I was doing an outstanding jod in helping him work on mine.
Status epilepticus is where you have many seizures. the next one starts up before the one before it stops. So it looks as if you're just having one LONG seizure. So if you're having a seizure for like 5 minutes or longer where you're unconscious. The family or room mate has to call 911. if that goes too long you can go into coma, or a heart attack.
Sincerely

The first thing I want to tell you is do not eat or drink grapefruit while taking trileptal because the enzymes in the fruit can mess up the trileptal causing you to have a seizure. Stay away from all drugs unless they are perscription meds to control your seizures, it's been proven that drug and alcohol abuse can cause epilepsy because the drugs and alcohol can destroy the brain cells and in time leaving scar tissue on the brain. I've had epilepsy for 37 yrs. and I had surgery twice to help reduce the seizures. As far as the white spots you are seeing that could possibly be either scar tissue or brain damage from the drugs.
What you need to do is start keeping a journal of all your seizures get a calendar and write down what time you have any seizures along with a discription of the seizure. Also stay away from anything with nutra sweet (aspartame) in it because it's been proven that nutra sweet causes more electrical activity in the brain which can lead to seizures for some people. By keeping a calendar of your seizures the neurologist or Epileptologist you see might be able to see a pattern in your seizures as to what days of the month or what time the seizures might happen. Also take note if there's a low pressure with the weather when have any seizures it's been proven that a low pressure can sometimes trigger seizures for some people. Here's wishing you well and May God Bless You!
