jane, in the world of nursing/medicine...empty stomache is one hour before or two hours after a meal.......and when you get tested, you need to hold off on your B12 for a few days prior to the test....not sure how many, d/t you dont wont to measure what you just took, you want to measure the level you body is maintaining at that time....good luck
