I'm on sivistatin with my cardiologist PCP and neuro all agreeing it is good for me. Heart disease and strokes are rampant in my family (both sides) so I decided when exercise and diet modification were making no difference I would go on it. I get my levels tested every quarter and for me it worked.

I would tak to your doctor and make a decision based on your history and severity. LDL/HDL and triglicerides will tell you more than a total cholesterol. I would also mention it also matters what you levels are (ex. getting high-ish or "really, really dangerous")

We are all a bit different and have different needs. Good luck regardless!
