I guess ill just have to learn to feel what its like to sit on the bench and try to get ready for the basketball season coming up in a few months.

Soccer, Try when the girl is on the bench too. Finding a way to help her with her new job. Its a job that you just have to really love or not love.
I know because my son was good at the Keeper job, but his love was the striker position. Let her know how much it means to you and the rest of the team that she is stepping up to fill this position. Also make sure she realizes that she needs to do what she can to protect her head.
And Soccer, we all realize how hard this is for you. But the one thing I think you need to know. I've got a feeling your team does too. So lean on them a little bit.
And take a few minutes during a time before a game, and ask the girls/boys to be careful and to protect themselves. That concussions are dangerous.
Let them know that its hard to sit out, but that your still there for them and part of the team.
