I just saw a doctor yesterday - yes, a Saturday!
He was GREAT.
He said that our nerves are encased in scar tissue,
the ONLY "exercise" we should be doing other than light walking, light swimming, (for those of us who have that bad whiplash of pain for ANY movement) is that we should do a comfortable stretch and hold it for a ten count.
This is especially true for our hands, otherwise they will atrophy.
He also checked my eyes and said, "you have not had proper pain management, your pupils are as reactive as if you've had an aspirin. We need to get you some good pain management so you can move, and stop being stuck in bed in pain, which is just a slow death.
No movement and just lying in bed year after year is killing you.
So he revamped all of my meds, and I see him next week to check my status to see if I need MORE meds - his behavior is not for me to keep saying week after week, "I am in so much pain, can't we up the meds at all?" His method is to keep working on the pain meds until it's where I can finally have movement, and not be suicidal with pain!!!
This "attitude" from a doctor is so refreshing that my fiance and I were in tears.
