The cold and I do not go well together and I'm sure most of you can relate. I also don't do well when it's damp. I too have issues with the barometer. When storms are coming through and the weather is changing..I KNOW IT! I can feel the change and I hurt all over! I get in a huge flare and I was told that it's due to the barometric changes..it totally affects RSD patients. Lucky us!

Right now I'm in a huge flare this week. It was a beautiful day last Sunday and hubby and I decided to head to the park for a festival that was going on. We were there a whole 10 minutes when I got stung by a bee while walking along. Of course I'm severely ALLERGIC to bee stings! Yea, UGH! I was stung on the right arm of course (my bad arm) by a yellow jacket. My husband knew this was NOT good! He started to assess the situtation and told me "not to panic". I didn't have a purse with me so I didn't have my epi pen..oops! I was trying not to panic but the pain started coming on..OH MY then my heart racing. I started feeling dizzy and he had to help me walk to a picnic table to sit down. I remembered I had an inhaler in the car and at this time I was having some trouble breathing. I was starting to wheeze and cough. Hubby went to the car to get the inhaler and a woman sat down next to me. She saw I was having trouble and I told her what was going on and she had a friend run for help. I told her my husband was going to the car. A Sherriff came running over calling for first aid help. At this point I was coughing and wheezing pretty bad and my entire body locked up and was in burning pain. I couldn't move. She was trying to get me up and told me that she wanted me to "walk to the ambulance" . THe woman next to me was telling her not to move me and bring the ambulance to me. My husband then saw the ambulance heading in my direction so ran quickly because he knew then it was ME! When he got to me they had brought oxygen that was doing nothing because my airways were closing up. He said I was incoherent and he tried handing me my inhaler but I couldn't move my arm or respond to him. He did it for me. I don't remember much of what happened from then on. I was put on a stretcher and into an ambulance. Then rushed to the hospital. It was NOT the day I had planned! The medic in the ambulance administered epi and 2 nebulizer treatments and an IV. He had a rough time but got me stable by the time I got to the hospital. I was monitored than released after a while. They discharged me forgetting to put me on prednizone..yea ...not good! By Sunday night I was itching like crazy and still having trouble breathing. Monday I was using my albuterol inhaler like crazy and my lungs HURT! I still itched so I called the allergist first thing Tuesday morning. He couldn't believe they sent me home with no medications or instructions. I have been a mess! I'm feeling better now but still itching and having some trouble with breathing here and there. I've had a crappy week. I haven't slept good at all. My nerves are going crazy! I went to the grocery store yesterday and wanted to cry! I had to pretty much run through the store and trying not to freak out because it was so darn cold in there! I don't know if I'm coming or going!

I'm also upset because the Dr put me on Cymbalta in June and I have gained weight from it. I was doing so well before all this mess. I was at the gym and had lost 10 pounds. Now it's all back and then some. I can't exercise either. I tried and it flares me up so bad. I can't handle it yet.

Good news is ..I have been cleared for Ketamine treatments which should start soon (I hope). I just hope it works. I want some of my life back.

I have started a blog if anyone is interested...

I'm trying to keep myself busy and the blogging has also helped. I can't always sit at the computer though which makes it tough. I do what I can.

Hope all of you are having a better day and looking forward to a pleasant and relaxing weekend!
Hi Momzpeachy,
I'm so sorry you're having an awful week and that bee-you sure didn't need that in your life. I react like that with shrimp, crab, and lobster. It happened out of the blue, but made it to hospital in time like you. scarey!
Sounds like you have a caring, warm husband. Glad you found us too. Did you post on introductions- I'll look. See how you got this monster and how long. It's been 14 years for me-full body, following surgery. Wasn't diagnosed for 4 years.
I live in Arizona, the winters are nice, but summer is awful with heat and monsoon season. We moved here 12 years ago from Oregon. Didn't know I had RSD then, but glad we live here than rainey Oregon. Our good friends visit us every year, so we are grateful for that.
Isn't that weight gain maddening. I've always been thin, very active in sports, and this weight gain from meds is awful. I quit neurotin 3200 mg a day and lost 30 days, then went on a Cymbalta and gain 10 back. I'm determined to get it off and 30 more. It's hard when we feel to bad to exercise. Do you like to swim too? That has kept me mobile. I only have one limb paralyzed-left hand.
I like the internet too, The laptop is the easiest. I can't sit or stand for long periods of time. I think my right hip is giving out. I'm 61. My husband, daughter and son-in-law are a wonderful help. Oh, and my kitty. She is always with me. a furry maincoone cat 10 years old.
Please take care and hope each day gets better for you. loretta
