If they do cross Gulf, will let you know when they are heading back your way (usually they are back again mid- or end of Feb for 4 - 6 weeks)

You are so generous to feed the little tykes. I always think they are so miraculous. Where we vacation, a small family owned island in Northern Lake Huron, we have the smallest bird (hummingbird nests there) and smallest mammal (the pigmy shrew). The shrew lives about 2 yrs, and when surprised or caught it does drop dead. We've seen that happen with our cats.

I have seen a recent picture of a hummer in "torpor". This is when it gets too cold for them in the early morning. They can die at time too.

One of the most recent Bird and Bloom's magazine has a picture of a hummer hanging upside down, in torpor. I can't find it online, but this one is close.
