Hi friend,
I have the same issue with the disability rating coming up - I have no clue what it's all about, no one's really explained it. I went to my original orthopedic doctor a month or two ago for a "scar" review. His second surgery on my shoulder, combined with the aggressive PT performed the therapists under his authority, ultimately caused my RSD. And now, it is his report upon which my disability review with the judge will be based. How interesting will that be? I sent an e-mail to my attorney asking for a copy of his report so that when I go to court I won't be surprised by his findings. I had a problem with the whole notion of the surgeon who caused the RSD evaluating me (he was selected by the insurance company), but my attorney didn't. At my first scar review I received a set amount (not much) for each incision. Since there were only 3 incisions the 2nd time, and at least one was on top of an old one, I don't expect much money for scarring this time around.
I'm really sorry that your RSD has morphed into IBS. Mine did that during the summer months with the heat, it was tough, I lost weight and was very lethargic. I am glad that you have your husband to help you out. It does become so much harder to eat when your stomach hurts. Please try to stay healthy, though, and remember to keep hydrated.
I have read of many people taking baclofen for their jerking. I had a period of jerking last winter, it was much worse at bedtime and when I was flaring. They abated over time with my blocks. I've also had trouble with shocks, mine are in my chest, and they come randomly at night when I try to sleep. Sometimes I will get them during the day when I nap, but usually its at night. They didn't start until the end of the summer. I HATE them because they hurt, and they are so random.
It sounds like you have found a constructive way to pass the time. That is great! Please take care and keep in touch.
XOXOX Sandy

I have been keeping busy trying to forget the darn shocks in my arms and hands. I watch TV, and play farm games and keep internet fish aquariums, to keep my mind off the pain, as the insomnia spurts have been going on for 2-3 days. Following, I sleep for about 3-4 hours, and then the cycle begins again. The games are fun and it does help me not to focus on how bad I feel. I do have trouble typing as the twitching spasm in my hands, effect my typing.
The new meds are working, somewhat( increased to 30 mg OpanaER x 2 per day with other cocktail of meds);however, I have also been dealing with severe stomach and bowel issues. If it isn't one thing, it is another. My hubby is making sure I get a healthy diet, rich in fiber and nutrition. I haven't been hungry very much, lately.
I don't want to be a wet blanket, so to speak, to my NT friends. Each of you have your own pain. Please don't fret about me. I am doing the best I can.
I see my atty.'s doctor on 10/12/09, to get a % of disability from the RSD/CRPS. Next, I will be sent to a WC doctor for a % of disability for WC. Then, the court case begins. It has been 2 1/2 yrs since by initial injury that caused the RSD. It is all coming to a head soon. I want to be up for the battle that is ahead of me.
Thank you for your concern, and please know I do come in and check on the post, I just haven't been able to comment. Please forgive me if I have let you down in anyway. I have missed you very much.
I am going to watch the House episode with mention of RSD/CRPS. Thanks for the heads-up!
hugs,
Dew
