The Vitamin D Council puts out a newsletter. The one this summer talked about vitamin D releasing natural antibiotics called antimicrobial peptides. This article takes us back to the 1940's when ultraviolet radiation of the blood was used to treat infections. Dr. Cannell feels that this irridation caused the blood to make large amounts of vitamin D. I recommend reading the complete newsletter. Reading about the blood irridation was most interesting. There is also a place to subscribe to the newsletter.

I urge everyone to get a 25(OH)D. Currently Dr. Cannell says our vitamin D level should be between 35ng/ml-65ng/ml. If you cannot get a vitamin D check he recommends vitamin D3 1000 IU a day if you get some sun and 2000 IU if you get no sun.
