Thumbs down Nerve conduction test!

OMG - last week I had my first ever (and hopefully ONLY ever) nerve conduction test. What a not-fun experience.

The hand specialist I saw sent me to my neuro to have it done, as while the neuro thinks my hand numbness is from the MS, the hand specialist and I do NOT think it is from the MS. I am convinced it started with all of the bicycling. I have been sleeping in a wrist brace (to help thumb and index finger - carpal tunnel) and an elbow/arm brace (to help the ring finger and pinkie - cubital tunnel). It has been three and a half weeks now...and I notice small differences in the numbness and extreme weakness. I can do things I couldn't do before (like unbuckle the three year old from his car seat - three weeks ago it would take me 20 mins and I'd be near tears as the babe sat there wondering what the heck was going on!)....but I'm happy to report I can now unbuckle him with much more ease and speed. So the thumb has more strength and less numbness. Yippy.

Tomorrow I see the hand specialist for a follow-up and test results.

I haven't cycled since Oct 4 (day 2 of the MS Bike Ride)...and I miss it A LOT...but it scares me to think my hands will be numb forever if I continue.

Okay, that's my rant - the nerve conduction test really was odd and just plain old stunk! It was like having my (not so) funny bone hit over and over again.

Wish me luck tomorrow - that the tests show SOMETHING and I can prove silly neuro wrong!
