JackD,

Be careful or you'll need to take one of these blood pressure pills, lol.
You are right ewizabeth, I need to have more fun or another glass of "reserva" wine.

So here is a summary of what I have found about blood pressure meds and neuro conditions.

Calcium Channel Blockers especially (dihydropyridine derivatives which includes nifedipine, isradipine, felodipine, nimodipine and amlodipine) may help many neuro conditions.

Some ACE (Angiotensin Converting Enzyme) inhibitors like Captopril may have a good neuroprotective effect.

Simvastatin (ZOCOR) is associated with a reduced incidence of dementia and Parkinson's disease that is not found with most other statin drugs.

This seems to be good material to discuss with your doctors if you need to take meds to control your blood pressure and/or cholesterol and you have a neuro condition.

Now I will add the facts from PUB-MED.
