I think they are going to do it with some kind of visual technique, because it is done in the outpatient area of the hospital by an Interventional Radiologist, but I am not sure. I know when I had a spinal tap once, it was done in this manner under X-Ray, so they could see where they were going...

I remember when I first was diagnosed with autoimmune problems, there were two kinds of autoantibodies that showed up on labs that were done. I can't remember which ones. Maybe one was thyroglobulin; the other, I don't remember.
