I found out I had TOS around 9 years ago when I was using my work computer at a bad work station and was hyper extending my right arm too much and it was causing my right cheek to go tingly/numb. In the last 9 years I have had some episodes of my cheek tingling but had not thought too much of it. My right shoulder feels like there is a pinched nerve and I am able to kinda throw my arm back and it makes my shoulder pop which makes it feel better. In the last couple years tho I have been having more problems with my cheek and my shoulder feeling weird. Other things that have been going on more is it feels like I have a little bit of drool coming out of the right side of my mouth, the back right side of my neck feels like there is a tender "lump" on it, I get vertigo when I lay down on my right side, headaches behind my right eye, and the most annoying constant thing is my right eye does not naturally blink, it only blinks half way so I have to forcefully blink to have it close all the way so it does not dry out and I don't look to freaky as my son says. Oh another thing that has happened is that I had went to a chiropractor for headaches and he gave me some exercises to do for my neck that is naturally tilted to the right side and has a forward position. I was suppose to tuck my chin to my chest or neck area as a stretch. When I did this one of my eyes looked off in another direction. When I released the hold and blinked hard it went back to normal. A couple days later I had to try it again and it did it a second time so I have not done this stretch again afraid that it might stick that way. Other things going on that "might" be relevant is low blood pressure, loose connective tissue, had both knees replaced 1 year ago from wearing out & fraying my cartilage, bad digestion, heartburn every night, do not get hungry very often but still eat, gained 35 pounds, dry eyes, reoccurring pink eye in right eye up to 5 times a year, I am sure there is more but I can't think of them... oh wait... I have trouble talking sometimes like I know what I want to say but I have to visual the word before I can say it and I have a hard time with just conversation sometimes and forget what I want to say.
I have had an MRI and they only found a little "leak" in the temporal lobe (I am 55 and was told this is a natural thing to happen when you start to get older I know my dad who is in his early 80's and has all his faculties has 5 of these) but they said that the MRI was normal other than that and showed no reason for the facial problems. I went to a neuro and he told me I had a mild case of Bell's Palsy but I passed all the tests he gave for bell's palsy. When I went to the neuro I had forgotten about the TOS and it wasn't until I was talking about my workstation I use to have to a coworker this week that I remembered that my shoulder had made my cheek tingle. Last week I also went to a eye specialist and he said there was nothing "medical" wrong with my eye to cause it to not blink. I also went to an optometrist and she said I needed to have my thyroid checked and it was probably menopause which I went through in 2004. I had my thyroid checked and it is on the low end of normal but still normal. I had neck xrays and it said I had some problems with C5 & C6 I think it was.
I have read a few of the threads that talk about occipital neuralgia and TOS and B12 deficiency and really not sure what to do. None of the things I read about talked about the eye not blinking properly and it going in a different position.
if anyone out there has had this problem I would appreciate hearing from you. I have noticed that being on the computer a lot at night looking up all this information is not only making my shoulder bother me more but my neck is stiff, and my cheek is more tingly.
I really don't know where to go from here...
I would appreciate any advise or insight you can provide.
Thanks...
we have a TOS forum here, just scroll down till you find it.....i doubt that many/any of your symptoms will seem out of place there.....the digestion issues could be celiac (we have a gluten sensitivity forum here, also), or decrease of stomache acid, or many other things but check out those to start. If we dont absorb well, we will be malnurished even if over weight. You should prob. be taping the eye closed for sleep if it doesnt "naturally" stay closed, you can get eye patches at the drug store...good luck
