I took advantage of not having to go anywhere today and slept off and on till 3pm.

I went to bed around 11pm last night. (earliest I've been to bed in months. I'm usually not falling asleep til 4 or 5am) Got woken up by my mom at 1am because she was kvetching (complaining) about the snow. (she has a pathological hatred of snow)

Went back to sleep and woke up around 5am, went upstairs and had breakfast with my dad before he went to work.

Went back to bed and slept till about 10am when my lungs decided that the antibiotics were really working and I was trying to cough up a lung or two. Went upstairs to make sure my mom wasnt trying to go outside to look for the newspapers (neither of which were delivered because the guys who deliver the papers are sane and stayed home instead of going out into the blizzard) If she falls down on the snow or ice, I cant lift her to get her back up, and it's really dangerous temperatures outside for the next several days at least.

Went back to bed, slept till almost 3pm...went upstairs and my mom was more than just kvetching about the snow. She's mad because the association hasnt plowed our driveway yet (they did the sidewalks up to our front doors tho...that was nice) and she's mad because she hasnt seen the mailman, and she doesnt have a newspaper to read, and she's ticked because Mother Nature had gall to dump a foot of snow on Omaha yesterday.

I'm about to go back to bed now that my dad is home and upstairs listening to her complain. (better him than me) She has a problem with being stuck in the house after a storm like the one we just had, and she's getting herself all worked up into a tizzy because I wouldnt take her anywhere. (I'm sick!) and I'm not insane and about to take her out into weather conditions like this. If we were to get stuck, there's no way she'd be able to walk away from the car. I might be able to, but I'd be smart and stay with the car unless there was a house 10 feet away.

I've been thru enough bad storms that I know enough to stay at home till the city digs out or melts. Only reason I went anywhere yesterday was because I needed antibiotics.

I actually dont mind the snow or the dangerous conditions as much as the aftermath of the storm where we're still stuck at home and she's complaining (really screaming her head off) about wanting to go somewhere.

We just have to keep her from complaining to the snowplow guys who do our street and driveway (city doesnt do our neighborhood, we're county even tho the rest of the neighborhoods around us are city) I dont want them ignoring us till we're the last house for them to do.

At least I got caught up on a bunch of sleep that I've missed over the weekend because I couldnt breathe from either bronchitis or pneumonia or whatever took up residence in my lungs.

I took a picture of the snow yesterday, and sent it to one of the local news stations, and they were using it on their website all evening, and I think it made it on the tv news in a millisecond blip of stuff last night. That was cool.

I think I'll either go back to bed, or go take a shower (and then go back to bed) It's nice to not have to go anywhere. I'm enjoying being able to catch up on my sleep, even if I keep getting woken up by all the coughing I've been having to do. At least now I can actually breathe, and I can tell the antibiotics are working. Yay!
