Does your state have a disability income program?

Do you carry personal disability insurance?

Typically ST disability income is tax free, so it may be a good choice for you right now. Get a doctor's note from the guy doing your blocks.

If you were laid off for lack of work, then you qualify for Unempl. The first $2500 of Unempl is not taxable.

You will also want to look into your benefits right away and see what is available.

I like Ada's suggestion of calling Social Services.

Good luck and get working on all the papers. If you need help figuring them out, have someone help you. Make sure you understand all your options. And many people have seemed to qualify for SSDI because they have RSD. You may get it sooner than you think.

The best of luck to you. XOXOXO Sandy
