It's hard to figure out how to travel on foot in the winter and there has to be a solution!

I'm even thinking that hardware stores might still sell a thing that fits over chair stringers when they come loose that you can bend around them and hammer into the hole, that may be able to be bent around the tip of the poles to help. They look like a rasp and have 4 "ears' that bend around the chair rail, you might be able to adapt them for poles and they would be removeable. I almost think they used to be sold by Lillian Vernon or Harriet Carter or one of those catalogues that sell everything in the world, but I haven't seen them for awhile.

I bet AMN might have a fix for something like this!
