I'm so sorry to hear about your seizure on New Years.

what a way to start things off. i hope things take a turn for the better.

wondering... had you just started the Ambien when you had the seizure and if so, how long after the dose did it happen? have you had other seizures since?
I wonder if your insomnia can be resolved by alternate means. Ambien CR is pretty safe, but it can occasionally have odd side effects and the quality of sleep it provides is not as good as natural sleep. Also even the CR version of Ambien is not terribly good at maintaining sleep - the effect is not greatly prolonged compared to regular Ambien.
Do you take supplements? Have you considered supplementing with Magnesium (it needs to have B-complex, vits D, E and C for proper utilization). Often that can help sleep. Perhaps you can talk to your doc about trying something along these lines.
Something you can definitely try on your own very safely provided you tolerate dairy, is having a warm cup of milk (skim or whole) before bed. If a Mg deficiency is present, you might need to do this several nights before seeing benefit. In the milk, the Mg is correctly proportioned with Calcium, too, so you don't even need to worry about upsetting that balance. Warming the milk aids absorption and digestibility - but
do not boil the milk.
Also increasing the leafy greens you get in your diet will increase the amount of dietary magnesium and b-complex you get.
I get migraines so i can somewhat relate to the suffering with headaches

. For a time, i had them for about 2 weeks out of each month - so debilitating. i agree that lack of sleep is probably making them worse. Even poor quality sleep could do that.
I hope you find a solution and start feeling better soon.
