Three of my kids were in a very serious car crash on Tuesday night. My SIL (my husband's sister, Lisa) was taking Bailey, Olivia and Dayne, with her daughter Maddy up to Matt's parents house to stay, then they were going to go to the zoo the next day. But Lisa's car hit a tanker truck head on, both going 110kph.

Lisa was knocked unconsious straight away.

My 9 year old daughter Olivia, did not survive. Her injuries were extensive. She was on the ventilator etc for a while but they said she couldn't recover from it, so we let them turn the machine's off at around 3:40am yesterday (Wednesday morning here in Aus, your Tuesday).

My eldest daughter, Bailey, who is 11, was so brave. She pulled Dayne out of the car, kept screaming at Liv to wake up and even called us to tell us what happened. She has a sore chest from the seatbelt but is otherwise physically ok.

Dayne's (he's 7) face is cut to pieces from all the glass. He has some cuts held together with stitches but most of them are small. He has thousands of them though, all over his face and head. They had to take all the glass out bit by bit, including some on his eyelids. We are so glad he was asleep when it happened or some of the glass would have gone in his eyes. He also has a sore tummy because of the seatbelt. They thought he might have a broken pelvis, but thankfully he doesn't.

Lisa is in a very bad way. She's on the ventilator. She has some broken bones but the main worry is her head injury. She had multiple bleeds in the brain that they operated on but her brain damage is extensive. She's hanging on for dear life and we're all praying she's going to be ok.

It's all so surreal at the moment, so please keep us in your thoughts while we struggle through this nightmare, and keep Lisa in your prayers. We dont' want this to get any worse than it already is. She needs to be ok.

I can't write any more.
x Kate
Dear Kate, your news is so very shocking and it is hard to imagine how you, and everyone else connected, can manage it at all. I know that these deep, intense shocks, can permanently alter ones sense of reality. It is a good sign that you could reach out for support in the midst of all of this.

Sharing will hopefully help you cope along with taking it moment to moment. Tolerating the intolerable and unbelievable is possible as long as we know others are with us on the journey when it becomes too much. Please always reach out when things are too much to bear.

I pray that you, and all your beloved family members, will be able to share the True Heart of faith, forever present, despite the incredible suffering of this tragic event. My prayers for peace and healing are with you all. Especially for the very little ones who's perceptions of life are altered far too early. It is beyond comprehension. My Deepest Sympathies and Wishes for Healing on all levels TT
