Default Hello Whirlwind

HI Whirlwind
I had a similar situation.

I assembled a notebook requesting simple accommodation on the job.

The Job Accommodation Network (JAN) is a free service that provides information on job accommodations and the employment provisions of the American with Disabilities Act. The easy to follow web site, lays out the responsibility of the employer. MG is one of the covered diseases.

act.www.jan.wvu.edu/
I read it carefully, I reread it as if I were the employer.

I went to the Muscular Dystrophy Association web site
www.mda.org/

I called my local/ closest chapter and asked for information . I received a publication “Facts About Myasthenia Gravis (MG)” also lots of other stuff.

In my notebook laying out my request
I presented only facts - no feelings.
  • A letter from Dr. saying I have MG
  • A letter from Physiologist stating MG causes me stress
  • The “ I am officially one of Jerry’s kids" booklet from the MDA
  • The JAN web site info and address
  • A simple short letter requesting accommodation

Somehow linking my situation ,with the MDA and the Law of the Land (US Government) helped the employer understand my need.

I received my accommodation.
Perhaps some variation of this might help .
Take care,
Christy
