I think prepaid is the way to go, too. Both my sons have AT&T but have had Verizon in the past and seemed to like it.
You know, for those of us on SSDI or Medicare (or both) Safelink will provide a cell phone for free. And they update it each month with 68 minutes.
I use mine exclusively now and had my home phone through our cable company disconnected. That saves me about $30 a month. Most of my friends that I stay in contact with can IM through the computer so we save our long winded conversations for the PC. I don't miss my landline at all!
