You know, many people have the surname Black.
Perhaps this name is derived from someone whose name was Black (Schwartz),
who was also a farmer/and used a plow.
German typically puts words together to make new words. I find it a very confusing language (which I had to take in college).
I personally don't think Black Plowman is the same as Plowman whose name is Black, are the same thing.
Using Babelfish translator I do not get any Plowman entry for the last half
of his name.
