artery blood is rich and red, venous blood is dark. Artery blood has plently of rich O2 and yummy nutrients. Arteries carry blood around our body and feed it. As the artery passes by the materials are used, and the waste or leftovers are passed over to the veins to get rid of the waste products, and send it back to the heart, and lungs to get a fresh load of O2 and more nutrients.
A scab on the top of your skin is close to a vein area, and the veineous area is pulling the gunk and garbage away from the healing area and into the lymph system for cleaning and clearing. If it was a fresh cut, a slice into your meat, it would have been active veinous blood used to wash out the tissues, but since its an active healing area...
make sense?
