Most of the airline travel sites--- ei expedia.com , travelocity, orbitz, etc offer a hotel booking in addition to flights and those ARE legit...

Another "legit" site is hotels.com . I've used that site several times and love it--- I can see pictures, compare types of rooms, etc.

That being said, you can always look on those sites, then call the hotel directly --- often times they will be able to give you the same rate as the websites.....
