I agree with Leesa that you need to see another doctor. If you don't have a primary care physician, try to see a physiatrist (physical rehab medicine doctor). They will know whether you need to go directly to a neurosurgeon or conservative treatment is possible.

Your pattern of symptoms fit in the classic C5-6 dermatone. I've had a problem at C5-6 problem which is slowly becoming more problematic so I can relate to your description of the symptoms. The bee stings sounds typical of nerve pain. On a bad day, I can't tolerate anything in the arm on the side that is more affected by the neck.

I don't know if a cortisone shot is recommended when the disk is herniated like yours but it really helped settle down the symptoms when I flared it really bad a few years ago. At that time, I had the bee stings that you're talking about.

Jo has some really good advice. Be careful who you talk to and how much personal stuff you put on the internet. It can be used against you in the process.
