He can set up or turn on the junk filter and that would stop a lot of it from getting thru to the inbox.
It is a good idea to block the junk mail so it doesn't even get to your inbox - some of it can contain unsafe attachments or other bad stuff- just by opening it or taking a quick look it can set it in motion.
Verizon info-
[Junk Mail
You can set your Junk filtering options to perfrom the following operations in incoming mail that has already been identified as junk:
* Delete incoming Junk Mail goes straight to your Trash folder
* Save Junk in the Junk folder
* Disable Junk filtering Junk will appear in your Inbox just like regular mail
Blocked Senders
If you do not want to receive mail from a particular person, add their email address to this list. If you do not want to receive email from an entire company, add their domain name (eg. badspammer.com) to this list. To accept email from that person or company again, just remove their address from this list by clicking Unblock.
Mail from these domains/addresses is placed in your Junk folder, unless the sender is on your allow list. As an example, a you can set up a block list that includes address.com. This would ordinarily result in all mail from the address.com domain being put in your Junk folder. However, if the you also have the address michael@address.com in your allow list, and an email from that address is received, it will arrive in your inbox. ]

THIS IS NOT JUNK MAIL. This is Alan's marketing emails that he always gets. It's not spam either.
All we want to do is empty the folder. When we click on empty it says (I just tried again). We cannot fulfill your request at this time".
I tried calling. Forget it. I waited 20 minutes. Couldn't get through.
I tried emailing Verizon. I had typed my question, then it re-directed me to another page and I lost it all.
We do not have OutlookExpress.
This is just plain old Verizon email.
All he wants to do is empty the folder that has all the 29,000 email messages.
Not the trash folder, not the spam folder. Just the inbox folder.
Any ideas WOULD BE WONDERFUL.
