They usually play music for me during my MRI's. Many songs are ~ 3 min. long. Could count off the minutes that way. More interesting than counting seconds. :-) Only about 7 songs, for a 20 min. MRI. Now, that might make it go fairly quickly.

I have tried counting. Two minutes is 120 seconds. I play a game where I count and see how close I can come to getting it right. Counting can be very soothing and also let you know when a certain series is ending.

Counting put me in a meditation state.
