Certainly in my case they have Debbie, but I daresay that like every other aspect of this disease, each and every one of us may be different in that as well.

When I was first diagnosed over 30 years ago, I was getting 2-3 exacerbations every year. After about 5 years they started levelling out to about one per year, then 2nd yearly until now I get one flare-up any where between two and 5 years apart.

I do have the occassional pseudo exacerbation though. For me, these are a short flares of pre-existing symptoms usually caused by another medical event, such as a urinary tract infection, flu or similar, and for which I rarely need any treatment. Like true exacerbations, a pseudo flare can make you feel terrible, but they don't cause any new lesions to form so they're not actually a progression of the disease.
