Hi everyone

Here some news! I have seen a Generalist in mid January to have a second opinion. He asked me to answer his questions and at the end he explains me that I have trigeminal and it was cause by the dentist. Not common but can happen.

He explains me that all the others symptoms are related to chronic pain. The headaches I have are causing the light sensitivity and maybe the eye movement. The vertigo is common too with headache. I can have 3 to 5 days of continues headache per week. It’s been like that since June 2009.

When I say him I was taking Garbamazepine 600mg a day. I was still experiencing pain around the jaw and ear when talking, not as much but still. I have to spoke with the mouth as closed as possible.

A week later I saw the neurologist for the second time. He took the time to look at me and all the report from other doctors. This time he listen my story about the dentist. He recommended me to see the neurosurgeon in Toronto. He added a new medication, Novo-Gabapentin 300mg 6 times a day to begin and up to 9 times a day. . He asks me to stop taking the Novo-Betahistine 24 mg, the Flunarizine 5 mg and the Amitriptyline 25 mg that may cause more dizziness than good.

Two weeks later I saw the neurosurgeon. He wasn’t sure that it was only the Trigeminal. Normally he said they are older than me. Imagine my face when he said that!!! I’m 29 years old! He said he can do the surgery but he wasn’t sure if it will help the other symptoms (headache, eye pain, vertigo,…). He would prefer me to see a facial pain specialist before to do the surgery. He said that many patients would have preferred to haven’t done the surgery because of the numbness. That let me with a lot of questioning!

I saw my dentist last week and ask him a lot of question and he said ``it’s time to do the surgery``. I have seen so many specialist and they all referred me to another specialist and the song goes on. I took his word really seriously.

I saw my Dr yesterday and I explain to her my thought about it. Everything begins by pain in the tong than when eating and specking. Than the Headache were no sense and it’s still the same but I can control it with medication now. The vertigo is part of my headache. Than electric shock in the left side of my face were getting worse weeks after weeks. I got under the medication and it helps a bit for sure.

So, I think it’s time to do something. I have been like that for the last 9 months. My home is like a jail. I barely go out and can’t drive. I ask my Dr to go on with the surgery. We know that the medication help so let’s get rid of this first. Then we will see if the headache are still as bad. Then will take care of the chronic pain after.

What you guys and girls think about it? Should I do the MVD or the Gamma knife? How hard is it to live with one side of the face numb? I can’t believe someone with the facial electric shock will prefer it to the numbness no?

Thanks everyone to help us and support all of us!
Steve
