Hi tbrown,

I've been in dentistry for 30 yrs and I personally do not know of any public studies that have been done regarding dental implants and pregnancy. But if you find one please post it here!

Dental implants are similar to other prosthetic implants that are made from titanium......like the knees, hips, etc. If your dental implants are integrated securely in the jawbone and there is no evidence of infection with any of them, then I would think there would be no contraindications during a pregnancy.

Have you discussed this with your dentist and physician?

I have 4 upper implants supporting an overdenture, and would like to have a baby, but I am concerend if the pregnancy will affect the integrity of the implants. The implants have been in place for 1 1/2 years. Thanks!
