Default excellent query!

With all the hassle it can be to convince the average John Q Public that your service dog IS allowed in public, if you have an option to not get a banned breed, do so. The breeds are banned for good reasons, even if some are societal opinions. Most are due to the inbreeding of the dogs though, and you never know when you will need your service dog and he'll be doing instinct breed stuff. But a very good question. (Again, I just couldn't fight such a battle added onto the allowance of a regular service animal. Remember when I wasn't allowed in a federal office, good ole Homeland Security, yep, gotta protect the feds from service dogs! lol)
