My Sony Bravia does this sometimes (why, I have no idea).

It recognises that there is a signal, but the screen states 'out of range' (as with yours, TV programs come through fine)

The only solution for me, is to remove the TV's plug out of the wall socket, wait about 30 secs to let it fully discharge, then plug it back in again.

(Just turning the TV off and on with the on/off button does not work).
