I also was very close to my Grandfather. Him and I lived together while I was engaged to get married, for four years. We were like the odd couple.

When I got married he died just a couple of months later in his sleep. I was a kid then and it always struck me that he wanted to see me in good hands before he left. He was born in Italy, came here in the states when he was 2 years old. Both his parents died by the time he was 15. He then joined the Army. He spent 30 years in the Army and many under GS Patton JR. I have several papers written to my Grandfather from Patton in which I framed. His son followed his father in the Army and retired a Major General. My grandmother died in 1953 leaving my grandfather who never replaced her. Both are interned at Arlington National Cemetery. He passed in 1984.
