Hi Flo and welcome to NT!

I'm sorry to hear that your accident has made you a member of our little brain boo boo club.

The first thing most of us learn is that doctors are not well-versed in concussion. As a patient, the best thing you can do is educate yourself about TBI so you can be a strong advocate for treatment. Some excellent sources for further reading include: the Brain Injury Association of America (BIAA)www.biausa.org; and www.tbiguide.com If the double decker bus injury means you're British, you might want to check out www.headway.org.uk If that's too much reading, there are a number of excellent Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) videos on You Tube. (Who knew it wasn’t just idiots surfing on cars?)

You are at an early stage in your injury. While you won't like to hear this, probably the most important thing you can do right now, is rest. Pushing yourself will only make your recovery slower and possibly less complete. Please do whatever you can to get your work situation sorted. Your rights as a brain injured worker will vary according to jurisdiction. That's just the type of thing Headway or BIAA could help you with.

I would also urge you to abstain completely from alcohol while your brain heals.

If your symptoms persist, you may want to seek better medical attention. Sadly, clear scans mean nothing. Conventional CAT scans and MRIs cannot show damage to the millions of tiny axions on your brain. As a result, people with obvious cognitive deficits can have "clean" scans. If you want to image your injury properly, you will need a specialized - and expensive - MRI. At some stage, you might also want to undergo neuro-psychological testing to see how your brain is really functioning.

For now, you might also want to keep a journal of your symptoms. I hope you'll take a moment to post a message on our Brain Injury Forum. There are folks there who are very well informed about treatment options, legal issues, etc...

Cheers
