The only thing I can think for a use for compression type socks would be swelling. Some swelling leads to pain, by compressing nerves.

But to me at least compression socks are the last thing I would ever try. I can't stand things on my feet anymore. I only wear socks if I absolutely have to! Since my feet don't sweat, odor is less than you'd expect. I just change the insoles of my shoes when necessary.
