Dr. Swift's primary interest is in clinical neurology with expertise in clinical neurophysiology and neuromuscular disease. He is President of the American Academy of Neurology and has been President of the American Association of Electrodiagnostic Medicine, President of the Society of Clinical Neurologists, and Chair of the Medical Advisory Board of the Myasthenia Gravis Association. An article he co-authored in 1970, "Treatment of Parkinson's Disease with L-Dopa," reporting the first effective treatment for PD, is one of the most frequently cited medical articles of all time. Dr. Swift has been a member of the Journal Watch Neurology Advisory Board since the publication's launch in 1999.
