Smile Hello Jennysue!

Welcome to the Neurotalk forums. Very happy to have you. I read your thread and it struck a very strong chord in me. I too suffer from an illness that is undiagnosed. I've had it for nearly five years. You said that your condition started with just a little numb spot on your right index finger. Mine started with just a tiny sensation in the left side of my abdomen, no bigger than a couple of centimeters.

Over the years my condition has progressed, and I've had some strange symptoms at times. But the way you describe the pain in your feet and the shooting pain in your leg sounds very much like a recent episode I had with my left leg. The whole leg was so sensitive that even the slightest pressure caused excruciating pain. I couldn't wear socks because the elastic in the part above the ankle squeezed the leg too much. For days I couldn't even sit or lie down, so sleep was almost impossible.

I've also had numbness in both legs, and pain in my side and lower back muscles. My condition is obviously not identical, but I've been searching the computer and reading posts for four years, and what you described sounds similar enough to really pique my interest. I even took Neurontin for two years before it finally lost it's effectiveness.

I would love to compare symptoms, tests, doctors, meds, etc. and see if there are more similarities. I've been to 26 doctors and specialists so far, and may soon be going to the Mayo Clinic if I can work it out.

Anyway, I sure hope you find something to lessen your misery, because I understand how tortuous it all can be. If there's anything I can do to help, I'm perfectly willing.

Very Best Wishes,
Idealist
