It is a sad state of affairs, really. I too have known folks who've manipulated docs for drugs. I've also known these people to have died. My thought is they are addicts and are very motivated to get what they want, they have that kind of personality. However, I know my wife very well, 30 years, and she, even to this day, is under-medicated to the point of losing her mind from RSD pain. As a husband I'd prefer her to get all the meds she needs, regulated by a good doc, but not over regulated to the point she becomes miserable from pain 24-7. I truly fear witch hunts.
