God bless Gary Whipple and all the others who have served our country, esp. those who didn't return home alive.

Today at the cemetery we spoke to a local man who served in Viet Nam as a Marine. He just recently received 2 bronze stars for valor--45 years after the fact. He has Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and bad ears b/c of mortar. He caught Malaria while there and, upon release, had to sign a statement denying that he ever had Malaria. He got emotional when he remembered returning home and being spat upon. Now he has Parkinson's and moves slowly with the help of walking aids.

So many sacrifices through the decades so we could have safe and easy lives.

God Bless America and those who have served her.
