When vitamins were discovered, they were measured by what that researcher wanted to do. Vit D is not really a vitamin it is being found out. It is some sort of pro-hormone. Vitamin E is also measured by units, and its conversion is different.(to convert Vit E you multiply the units by .67) And Vit A is in units too. All are fat soluble. (that might be the reason they are all in units).
800IUs is not very much. Typically Vit D is not measured in milligrams, for historical reasons.
But the conversion is as follows:
1000 IU equals 25 micrograms. (.025milligrams) So, 50,000 IU is about 1.25 mg. You won't find milligrams on any bottle you buy of Vit D3.
