Dr. Philip Getson & ketamine treatments
Hi guys,
I finished my 20th ketamine infusion with Dr. Getson's office in Marlton, NJ last week. It was the eighth week of my treatments - I started the 10 day protocol with him on April 19th. I've never been informed of the strength of my infusions, they've only told me that they were very low compared to most of their other patients.
I feel pretty good. Not perfect, I still have problems with the back of my head in the occipital area and I suspect I always will. But I am off all meds except for an occasional Fiorcet (which has a minimal amt of opiates). Considering that last August/Sept I was up to 100 mcg of Fentanyl that is just wonderful for me. (I needed Suboxone to get off the Fentanyl).
Dr. Getson is one of the nicest doctors I have ever met. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for someone to help them with their RSD. He is truly dedicated to his patients, and will go out of his way to help you. I love him. He is uncanny in his ability to figure out what is wrong his patients and how to fix them. Substantially all of his practice is dedicated to RSD so he has an enormous amount of knowledge about the subject. I traveled from RI to NJ (several hundred miles) weekly for my infusions and it was worth it. I am in remission and sincerely hope to stay that way. I have the comfort of knowing that he is on my side and is only a phone call away - I know that he will always be there to help me.
Even though his office told me that my bills needed to be paid in advance, once I arrived and began receiving treatments, I was never billed. I am WC and my ketamine case is still pending in RI WC court. I was pre authorized for United Healthcare as "In Network," but they consistently remitted checks directly to me at out of network rates. I signed the checks over to Getson but his office never cashed them. Nor did they EVER send me a bill. He is patiently waiting for my court case to be heard this Thurs.
There is a local doctor in RI that just started doing ketamine infusions. He refuses to even BOOK an appt with me because of my status with WC. He want $$$!! In contrast, Getson is owed 20 times about $1500 or so, plus whatever he charges for an occipital block.
I had a really hard time with his office before I started receiving treatments there - I waited a few months longer than I was promised, and was treated extremely poorly by his office staff. His staff just does not do him justice. It is a shame.
For anyone that needs a good doctor and can get to Marlton, NJ, (exit 4 off the Turnpike, about 15 miles east of Philly), I can't say enough good things about Dr. Getson. He fixed me! (Mostly) And he is kind, incredibly hard working, and dedicated to helping those of us that suffer with this hideous illness. His number is 856-983-7246.
Love and Peace, Sandy
