Yes, they are very hot for some...temperature wise.

Also you cannot get in and out of it easily...unless you wear silk and have silk sheets.

I have a memory foam topper only, and it has been good for me with my pain issues which are also arthritic.
But even with only 2in of foam, it can be a challenge to roll over!

It is also hot to sleep on, so A/C is really needed. In cold winter however, it is nice.
